BE PREPARED FOR EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS IN OUR COMMUNITY

Being prepared and taking precautionary action is the best defense against extreme weather conditions in North Carolina.

We know that the hurricane has many of you worried and want to provide you some information on our processes for handling extreme weather events.  As you may know, storms are unpredictable and it is too early to know what impact Irma will have on our area.  However, we are already working diligently to make sure our tenants are prepared and properties are protected. We continue to monitor the storm and have requested that our tenants also pay close attention to the national and local newscasts for the most up-to-date information on the weather and the predictions so they may act accordingly.

TENANTS PLEASE READ BELOW:

1)  SECURE ALL OUTSIDE PROPERTY THAT COULD BE BLOWN AWAY OR BECOME PROJECTILE.  THIS COULD INCLUDE BIKES, PATIO FURNITURE, POTTED PLANTS, GRILLS, JET SKIS, ETC.  IF STORAGE PERMITS, THESE ITEMS SHOULD BE BROUGHT INDOORS.

2)  DO NOT TAPE WINDOWS OR BOARD UP WINDOWS. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE WINDOWS AND SIDING.

3) LOSS OF ELECTRICITY: SHOULD YOU HAVE A LOSS OF ELECTRICITY FOR AN EXTENDED AMOUNT OF TIME, EMPTY YOUR REFRIGERATOR AND LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN. DO NOT CALL THE SWEYER PROPERTY MANAGEMENT OFFICE IN THE EVENT OF NO ELECTRICITY; INSTEAD REPORT IT TO YOUR UTILITY PROVIDER DIRECTLY

4) ROOF LEAK/WATER INTRUSION: SHOULD THERE BE A LEAK OR INTRUSION OF WATER AT YOUR PROPERTY, PLEASE DO WHAT YOU CAN TO ASSIST IN CONTROLLING THE LEAK TO PREVENT PROPERTY DAMAGE (PLACE A BUCKET UNDER LEAK, PUT TOWELS DOWN, ETC.).

If you have an emergency which has caused property damage, contact our emergency line at 910.239.1475. Please note that depending on conditions, vendors may not be able to respond until the storm passes to ensure their safety. Examples of storm-related emergencies include: missing roof shingles, large trees fallen onto house or in house, six inches of water in first floor units, etc.

For general maintenance requests or storm related damage that isn't an emergency, please submit your request through your tenant portal at www.WilmingtonForRent.com/tenant-portal. Please be aware that during this time, the best way to communicate with us may be through your tenant portal and/or emailing your Portfolio Manager directly.

To our property owners if storm related damage is reported we will address as quickly as possible to protect your property and mitigate damage.  We will then follow up with you so necessary steps can be taken if your insurance company needs to be contacted.
