Wilmington, NC (September 2022): Michelle McDermott of Sweyer Property Management is now one of the select group of professionals nationwide to earn the Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) designation. Obtaining this credential takes her to the next level in property management with the hopes of expanding their Multifamily portfolio.
The National Apartment Association created this program, which includes education and training in minimizing legal risk and liability, regulating agency oversight of assisted housing, annual operating budgets, and owner performance objectives. The CAPS designation requires a minimum number of years’ experience, 40-hours of course work and testing, and continued education to maintain certification.
Michelle has over 20 years of experience in property management and is considered a strong asset to the Sweyer Property Management team. She began her career in Macon, GA where she oversaw acquisitions, disposition, the due diligence team, and property repositioning. She then furthered her career in property management with Sweyer in 2010, where she held the title of District Manager for multiple communities, lease-up and disposition, marketing, budgeting, and multifamily business development.

My experience supervising apartment communities and on-site teams for over 20 years; has been punctuated by this distinguished achievement,” said Michelle. “As the Wilmington market continues to grow, we are meeting first-time multifamily investors and welcoming investors from outside our area to this market.
